Vintage 2022

The grafts chosen for planting The Mali Dunaj Rebula vineyard, the biodynamic treatment of the vineyard, the low per hectare input and the aeration of the territory were the prerequisites for the optimum ripening of the Rebula grapes. The 2022 selection was picked on 7, 8 and 15 October. The selected pickers picked only grapes from each vine that were covered in noble rot.

As with the cultivation of the land, the vinification of Rebula Selekcija follows the Vipava tradition. The fermentation of Rebula took place together with the berry skins at the temperature that accompanies the month of October. After the fermentations were completed, Rebula Selekcija 2022 was matured for 22 months in a 2500 litre oak barrel.

Rebula’s intense colour reflects the very low yield per hectare, the botrytised grapes and the longer maceration of the wine. Rebula tastes completely different from 21st century wines. We wanted to revive a classic and, at the same time, the only way of producing wine that preserves its vitality. Rebula Selection 2022 was bottled in August 2024.
