Jazbine
Ivan took it upon himself to preserve our ancestors’ reputation and took control of the neglected farm at the age of 21. He didn’t inherit money; he inherited work. The only thing Ivan had was a vision. Even then, he believed in his vision and in the soil of Jazbine. He borrowed 200 dinars to purchase a chainsaw to cut down the trees at Jazbine and extend the vineyards. Fortunately, it was summertime, so the farm was producing cherries, peaches, and pears. With the money that he earned by selling wine and fruit he was able to pay people to begin preparing the soil for the vineyard. He paid off his debts as soon as he had the money; as fast as it came in, it went out again. Days became more and more difficult. Finally, when all hope seemed lost, the vines grew their first leaves. Many years have passed since then. Times have changed, and the soil seems to have adapted to suit the vines. This vineyard usually produces grapes that hold great promise. The wines of the best vintages are christened Angel Red. According to my father, everything we have is thanks to this land.
